In a Sun Star Davao report last August 2, National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) said P9-billion is allotted for Mindanao railway construction initial works.

“The P9 billion will be used for the engineering works like the acquisition of road right of way,” NEDA Davao Regional Director Maria Lourdes Lim said.

Accordingly, the Department of Transportation already approved the initial budget. Construction is expected to begin by the third quarter of 2018.

It can be recalled that the NEDA Board, chaired by President Rodrigo Duterte,  gave the green light to the P35.26-billion Mindanao Railway project Davao phase last June 27.
